Overview

Some of our customers will see the option “Announce Caller (Rebound)” when configuring the extension settings in the 3CX system. Many users are not sure what this option means and what it does. In this article, we will introduce the meaning of the option “Announce Caller (Rebound)” in 3CX.

Rebound

The “Announce Caller (Rebound)” option is in our extension forwarding rules, which appears when you choose to transfer the call to your mobile phone (Forward to Mobile). Here we can see that when someone dials this extension, if no one answers, the call will transfer to the mobile number set by the extension. What will happen if we check the “Announce Caller (Rebound)” option ?

After checking the “Announce Caller (Rebound)” option, when someone dials this extension, if no one answers, the call will transfer to the mobile number set by the extension. When the phone owner answers the call , The 3CX system will promptly say that there is a call from the phone number xxxxxx (the number of the person who dialing the extension), whether you want to answer. This gives the choice to our mobile phone users.

Next we will introduce how to set this feature.

Steps to configure the Announce Caller (Rebound)

  • Because the call will transfer to the mobile phone, then we need to set the mobile number first, go to the extension – General- mobile number, and then fill in the extension’s mobile number.

  • Go to the forwarding rule, select Forward call to mobile, and then checking the “Announce Caller (Rebound)”
  • Next, we also need to let the extension have the right to make an external call, go to the Outbound Rules, and add the extension to the rules that can make an Outbound call. Then we have completed the relevant settings.

Screen Calls by requesting caller name using an IVR

We will find the option of Screen Calls by requesting caller name using an IVR in the extension option. What does this option mean and what is the relationship with the “Announce Caller (Rebound)” option? In fact, if we want to use this option we also need to use the option  the “Announce Caller (Rebound)”.

When the Screen Calls by requesting caller name using an IVR option is checked. Suppose Richard dials to this extension. If no one answers the call, the 3CX system will prompt Richard to say his name and press any key. Then the call will be transferred to the mobile phone number of this extension. When the mobile phone owner answers, he can hear the 3CX system prompting that there is a call from XXXX (The XXXX was the words Richard said before), do you want to answer the call? This is the entire flow of the Screen Calls by requesting caller name using an IVR option and the “Announce Caller (Rebound)” option.
